That’s right gamers!
The Diablo 3 Auction House Will be Shut Down in March 2014. The Idea behind the auction house was originally intended to help players get that one item that they just could not seem to find. In some aspects this worked, however it also destroyed a very important core feature of Diablo…The Loot!
John Hight, Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls production director, and Josh Mosqueira, game director, explain that the auction house was intended to be a ” safe and convenient way for you to trade items, and in that respect it became very successful, but it became a double edge sword.” This eventually took away from the whole reason people play Diablo 3, which is to kill monsters and daemons to get cool loot. With the ability to buy any item you want, you no longer feel the drive to push forward to hunt for bigger and better items. This in turn destroyed the main reason to play the harder difficulties.
Because of this Blizzard will be removing the Auction house in march of 2014 with the release of the new loot 2.0 system they are working on with Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls. I, like many other gamers, am very excited about this news. I found that the auction house completely destroyed my gaming experience because there was no reason to fight the more difficult bosses. This is partly why I was so excited about the console version not having an Auction house.
Well done Blizzard, Well done!
